Next Level

January 30, 2009

Bass Radio has to give shine to one of the best duos from the golden era.  While Runaway Slave is one of the greatest hip-hop full-lengths of all time, the Preemo remix of “Next Level” from Goodfellas is incredible in its own right.  Actually, it’s the biggest highlight from their overall disappointing second effort.  Also, the 12″ of this is pretty crucial and highly advised to any fan of the Diggin’ in the Crates crew…

Renaissaince Remix

January 29, 2009

Here we go yo!  Here we go yo!

Q-Tip (feat. Busta Rhymes, Raekwon, and  Lil’ Wayne): “Renaissance (REMIX)”

Tip brings out the heaveyhitters for his remix to The Renaissance title track.  While the beat doesn’t knock quite like “Move,” this is about as legit as it gets.

The Funkiest $1 Ever Spent

January 27, 2009

My guy at the record spot basically hooked it up nicely yesterday…I walked in the front door and next thing I know, I’m listening to one of the dopest, out of the blue 12 inches.  I had no goddam clue who The Funkytown Pros were, or what the track was named, but it sounded like some early 90’s grime that I can’t seem to  get enough of.

And even better, I got the $1 hook-up.  What?

Continue on after the jump..

Money Goes

January 27, 2009

Jay-Z: “Money Goes (Radio Rip)”

New Jay-Z straight from Hot 97…More Blueprint 3 material?  Pretty infectious if you axe me.  CDQ version leaking sooner than you think.

Forming Like Voltron

Slaughterhouse: “Move On”

I know I’m hella late on this, but thought it should get a post on Bass Rocks anyways.  Slaughterhouse consists of underground kings Joell Ortiz, Joe Budden, Royce the 5’9″, and Crooked I, and the above track is their latest leak.  These guys are dope individually, so imagine what will happen when they get together…Ethered!

Check the Rhyme

January 22, 2009

Obvious one, but still an undeniable classic.  I’ve recently wiped the dust off The Low End Theory and am blasting it like it’s the early 90’s again.  Plus,  “Check the Rhyme” is still bananas to this day…Since Tribe is pretty lacking on Bass Radio, I had to give a shout out where shout outs are due..

I kicks the mad-style, so step off the frankfurter..

Jay-Z: “My President Is Black (D.C. Mix)”

Via Nah Right, I bring you the most hyped presidential remix EVER (not that there are hella)…Jay-Z definitely knows how to get his internet buzz on, and this is no exception.  If you haven’t seen him perform this live in D.C. yet, I suggest continuing on below.

That crowd was feeling it!

FINALLY…A president worth looking up to.  After eight long, gruesome years under the Bush regime, we enter the Obama era.

I can’t begin to describe how happy I am.

Parts 2 and 3 after the jump…

Who’s World is This?

January 16, 2009

Nas getting his Kanye on…

Nas: “The World (prod. Kanye West)”

Another reason why Kanye should stick to beat-making…Not only is Mr. West killing it with Jay-Z right now (i.e. “Brooklyn We Go Hard” and  “Jockin’ Jay-Z”), but he extended his talents to one of the other GOATS, Nasty Nas.  “The World” is an amazing track, one that I’d like to see more of in the future.

Props to NR.

Bass Radio this week needs to take it back to Gang Starr’s  golden era.  I recently played this single from Hard to Earn at a show in SF, and the roof practically caved in.  At that moment  “DWYCK” immediately became a personal favorite of mine from the incredibly dense Preemo catalog.
