Michael Jackson in Hip-Hop

June 26, 2009

While MJ may not be synonymous with hip-hop, it’s important to note the undeniable connection.  Even though it’s not on the James Brown sampling level, rap artists from across the spectrum have used many of his hits in their beats.  Artists such as Nas, Tupac, and MC Lyte dug in the Jackson crates, to give us MJ classics in another form.  Attached HERE is a bigger version of the above map of MJ samples used in hip-hop.

Shout out to Ethan Hein for putting this together.
